CMS May Be Open to MACRA Alternatives

Independent practices have been expressing concern over MACRA, specifically that they will not be able to comply with the new laws.
Amid the fears of small and rural practices, CMS is now considering alternatives that would achieve similar goals of MACRA, like more patient participation, reducing reporting burdens, and payment models that focus on quality of care instead of quantity.
But the smallest practices aren’t the only ones to raise concerns. Two larger independent groups, HeartPlace and Texas Colon and Rectal Surgeons, have also informed CMS of their future inability to comply with MACRA and remain operational.
