Three Techniques to Preserve Somatosensory Function

By Admin | February 26, 2016

Dr. Richard Vogel, neuroscientist and board-certified neurophysiologist, wrote an informative article about dorsal column mapping intramedullary spinal cord tumor surgery.

He outlines three separate techniques to preserve somatosensory function during surgery, including using stimulating the spinal cord and recording from a peripheral nerve, stimulating the spinal cord and recording from the scalp, and stimulating the posterior tibial nerve and recording from an electrode array placed over the dorsal columns of the spinal cord.

Read more about his findings in his article “Dorsal Mapping for Spinal Cord Tumor Surgery" at NeurologicLabs.com.
