Value-based payment is the future

Medical device manufacturers, the FDA, healthcare providers, and insurers want to ensure that solutions are indeed providing value to patients, but no one is sure how to collect the necessary data.
Wearable data collectors and mobile apps, often the go-to answer, have proven to be inaccurate over time. And it remains difficult to pair any data with Electronic Health Records (EHRs), especially if the data comes from another source.
In addition to collection barriers, another roadblock includes the potential for illegal kickbacks, such as the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law.
Currently, a consortium of industry experts from all sides is trying to figure out how to collect data in order to potentially move towards a value-based payment system.
